For more than a hundred years, remarkable literary magazines in various languages have been published in Berlin. Some have lasted for decades, while others disappear after a few issues, just like their authors and editors. Their number, as well as their forms and concepts, are legion, but the history of non-German language (i.e., not published in German) literary magazines in Berlin remains largely unexplored and unwritten. With the 13th edition of the Parataxe Symposia (during the day, starting at 1 pm), we begin by giving a voice to authors and publishers of twelve international literary magazines and, together with experts, delve into the highly lively phenomenon of multilingual Berlin literary publications. In conclusion, eight authors will read current texts (in German and English) from Berlin's foreign language literary magazines. PARATAXE is a project of the Berliner Literarischen Aktion e. V. in cooperation with the LCB and Literaturport. Funded by the Berlin Senate Department for Culture and Social Cohesion.
